Azaleas & Pansies

Painted completely within Inkscape - March, 2023
This is a footprint - 12” x 12”
Printed on Japanese Washi paper - meeting archival standards
Our pansies make it through the winter in North Carolina.
In the springtime, the azaleas bloom at the same time. My wife, Heidi, made a beautiful small bouquet, and I opted to “paint it.”
I used softer lines for the flowers.
Japanese Washi paper is made from plant fibers - mostly from the bark on Mulberry bushes/trees.
The paper has two sides: one smooth and one with texture.
I opted to print this print on the textured side in order to bring out the background and provide the pansies with more of a velvet feel.
