Organic Forms #19

My Fading Life

After creating Organic Forms #18 - Elegance I wanted to experiment further.

Inspired by Joyce’s Portrait of an Artist as a Young Man, I opted to go to the other end and show myself as an older person.

Black, greys, and whites seemed appropriate as colors.

Last year my sister died. This year I was diagnosed with a rare blood cancer. My life is starting to fade.

After creating the face portrait, I experimented with different background concepts.

The textured one just fit perfectly, and I liked my lower torso blended in with the background.

A monoprint was made with pigment ink combined on Red River Paper’s Palo Duro 315.

It will last for over 100 years with UV protection.

Price includes a simple frame and Acrylic for UV protection and reduced glare.
