The canvas provides more of a texture - not shown in the above jpg image
I always admired the flower-bouquet paintings by Odilon Redon.
He created abstract and surreal backgrounds with flowers that just popped out with colors.
I hope to do a series of flower paintings - modernizing and refining his concepts.
I started this painting in March, 2019.
Finished it in July, 2020
Painting tulips with a mouse was a hard, and arduous task.
Every few weeks I would touch it up, and make adjustments.
In the fall of 2019, I discovered white woven canvas that could be printed on with the inkjet.
This stimulated me to try printing the tulips on this media.
That nudged me into creating a textured background - which works well with the tulips and canvas.
The ersatz bowl - made of vectored arrows - took months to create.
Love the interplay of the arrowed bowl and the tulip's stems.
